Werewolf
This installation centers on a 2 by 2 meter upvc blind, framed and freestanding, a domestic, familiar ready-made object.
Casting an unsettling glow from behind, a red neon light transforms this ubiquitous object into a symbol of the pervasive and often overwhelming threats that loom increasingly large.
Challenging the boundary between comfort and unease, inviting viewers to engage with the inherent discord between the ordinary and the ominous. The red neon serving as a visual metaphor for existential anxieties—political chaos, environmental disaster, and the relentless passage of time.
This work is a contemplation of perception and reality, offering an introspective dialogue onthe precarious balance we navigate daily. Where threats are many and comprehension is elusive, inviting viewers to reflect on their own thresholds between safety and vulnerability.
Cherry stickers
Reflective sticker sheets of red cherries on pink background are materials that capture the essence of pop-culture and youth, imagery that evokes memories of childhood. The composition of usable, consumable elements reflect the exuberance and innocence often associated with youth.
The second sheet, with its stickers partially absent, speaks of coming of age and inevitable experiences of loss and change. The absence is an exploration of youth acknowledging the passage of time and layers removed as we grow.
Through this work, I explore the tensions between preservation and transformation, balancing nostalgia and the growth in our individual journeys.
I would give you my last breath
This piece represents the fluidity and adaptability of ritual space, embodied in a bolted wooden structure that stretches 3.5 meters in length and 2 meters in height. Mounted on wheels, the frame's deconstructible nature signifies a commitment to inclusion and accessibility, transforming diverse spaces into sites of communal engagement.
A mass of heart-shaped balloons, each filled with human breath, symbolizing a profound offering to a now complete shrine. Through this act, the intimacy of shared humanity is celebrated, with each breath infusing the shrine with life and connection.
Reflections across the balloons' surfaces, inviting viewers to become part of the shrine through their own reflections foster an active engagement.
